David Nørlund is a Danish born, Copenhagen based composer, piano and synthesizer player, singer and songwriter. Who is manifesting himself across several genres.
Within film and media, he creates contemporary music, exploring alternative sound sources, instrumental techniques, building digital instruments and more. Giving his soundtracks a personalized and highly unique character.
In his alter ego "David Dear". He explores alternative pop music, with a scandinavian melancholic sound. Pulling threads from a diverse range of genres. Together creating a universe, unique to his persona.
In the electronic music scene, he has bee highly active in several projets. From the electronic improv duo "Neutone", playing shows at Roskilde Festival, The Copenhagen Cathedral and more. To his presence in the underground clubbing community. DJ'ing at venues like the infamous Culture Box club, to the smaller but underground famous Jolene club. He has perfomed everywhere, from churces to conservatory halls.
Davids musical journey began before he could even speak. Rhytmical classes as a baby, piano lessons as a child. Acting and singing in theater and musicals in his early teen years. Music has been present his entire life.
At the age of 21 he was accepted into the National Danish Academy of Music, where he studied for 5 years, At the end of his Bachelor year, he received the Entrepreneurship Award, by the Danish Musicians Associations, for his work in the electronic music scene. By 2020 he graduated with a masters degree in Electronic Music and Sound-Arts. In 2021 he began another masters degree in film-composition from the National Danish Academy of Music, in collaboration with The Danish National Filmschool.
David is based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
