Kira Martini

Kira Martini is one of the current strong voices on the Danish jazz scene. She is an artist that interacts between genres, mixing in both flavours from her time in Brazil, songs from her long relationship with songwriting, nordic atmosphere and her passion and roots founded in the jazz evergreens and history. 

In 2024 her latest album OPEN WIDE was released on Storyville Records. A collection of her own songs in the cross-field between jazz and folk, inspired by artists like Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Nick Drake and Eva Cassidy. 

In 2023 she recieved the honourable Palæ Jazz Award, formerly given to legends like Ed Thigpen, Hugo Rasmussen, Kenny Drew, among others. In 2024 she was awarded DR P2 award together with the duo DYBFØLT, for their album with interpretations of Else Marie Pade's early works. 

She works in many constellation, both as a featured solo artist with different groups and projects, and as a band-leader for her own bands.
