knackered

Through her solo project Knackered, Iceland-based artist Ida Juhl takes an intertwined approach to music production and community where nurturing an underground scene and encouraging safe, diverse spaces play a fundamental part in her artistry.

Her productions draw inspiration from UK rave, post-club, and 2000s hip-hop/R&B, resulting in genre-defying live performances that count appearances at Björk's Full Moon series and Iceland's biggest rave, Smekkbuxur.

Following the release of her first record in 2017 under the moniker IDK IDA through D.I.T. (Do It Together) arts collective Post-Dreifing, she has taken part in numerous projects and appeared on multiple releases on labels such as Why Not? Records, Agalma, and Post-Dreifing, showcasing a diverse skill set that includes A/V installations, scoring short films and contemporary dance pieces, teaching, and much more.

She continues to organize underground shows in Reykjavík while advocating for diversity in music and the arts through her work as booker for Smekkleysa (Bad Taste Record Shop).

Her debut release as Knackered is set for 2025, making it an exciting year for connecting with audiences and collaborators through, as she puts it, “music as a shared space that encourages connection and celebrates diversity.”
