All Numbers Language is a multimedia chamber music work structured around the interplay between visual impressions, symbolic images, music, computer sound, and human performance. Interactive computer technology is used to link computer music and video processing to nuances in human performance. The score builds on the shoulders of some of the core literature for solo cello but arrives at an ecclectic contemporary artistic expression. This is achieves through dialogues between old technology (the cello) and new technology (the computer), between older music styles and new computer-based sound art, between nuances in human performance and the interactive computer media. The projected video is based on images by the Belgian visual artist Johan Lievens, that are processed in real-time, depending on computer analysis of the cello sound. The performance reaches for a poetic synthesis of all elements involved, centered on the expressiveness of the cellist's interpretation of the written score.
Nicolas Deletaille (cellist) has collaborated extensively with current composers, and has given more than fifty world premieres. His growing discography on Contreclisse and other labels also includes great works from the repertoire by composers J.S.Bach, Beethoven, Kodaly, Cassado, Ligeti, Ysaye, and others.
