SilverGlam: The Glamrock Sessions vol. 1
Since November 2021, the new Danish glam rock band SilverGlam released a handful of singles, all extremely
well received on the international glam scene. Now the time has come for the release of the band’s debut
album The Glamrock Sessions vol. 1.
Eleven songs all written and recorded with an immense and deep love of the 1970sglam rock, and so
authentic in their sound, expression, and the attitudeyou might even think that the band originated from
that era. As it is flagged in the chorus of the opening song “´74”:
“Could it be like the past we knew. However, it goes, like a past in the shows. Whatever, it feels, up on the
heels.Knows “Nostalica 1974”. Looking for more!”
It is evident that SilverGlam feels right at home in that era, and the album's eleven songs have the same
tantalizing drive and hard riffs as many ofthe best bands of that time. However, the songs are all written in
the 2020ies by the Copenhagen band themselves. That is ….All but one!
The exception is Moonlight In Baskerville, which was written by Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman alias
Chinnichap, who in the 70s were the major suppliers of hits for names such as Suzi Quatro, Mud and not
least Sweet.
Moonlight In Baskerville was despite of its immediate qualities turned down by the Sweet who instead went
forTeenage Rampage.
In the years that followed everyone forgot about Moonlight In Baskerville, until last year, almost 50 years
later, where SilverGlam dug up the song and recorded it as the band's debut single. Sweet's original guitarist
Andy Scott heard the song and SilverGlam received his thumbs op.
Several internet radio stations in the US and Europe were not late to join in with their praises of the Danish
glam band either. In fact, Dandy's Stardust Dive, based in California, was so excited about the song that
“Moonlight In Baskerville” went all the way to the top of the station's weekly chart.
The same fortune happened to SilverGlam's following four singles, the Christmas song “No One Waits Till
Christmas”, “´74”, and “Lady Strange” and as a sign of their appreciation the band hereafter gave Dandy's
Stardust Dive the right to choose the next single.
The choice fell on the song “Rebel Glam”, which were broadcast as another appetizer for The Glamrock
Sessions vol. 1.
SilverGlam's love for glam rock is indisputable, and Henrik Botoft's and Peter Peter's seductive guitars which
unfold themselves playfully on top of Henrik Christiansen's melodic bass and Gert Ostrich's lively, energetic
drums nail that fact.
The band's use of both a male and a female vocal together is powerful and renewing for the genre. Elsebeth
G. Jensen's and Thomas Carstensen's voices not only suit each other but help to give the band an original
expression.
SilverGlam counts some extremely experienced musicians; Peter Peter, with a past in Denmark's first punk
group Sods, which later became Sort Sol, has had the band Bleeder for the past several years, while Henrik
Botoft has played with Hotel Hunger for a lifetime.
Gert Ostrich is the founder and prime mover behindSilverGlam. He was a member of BZ's favorite band City-X
back in the day. He has since played with several bands, including together with Henrik Christiansen and
Elsebeth G. Jensen in Hyperlove, which featured on the soundtrack to the film Pusher II (2004). - Elsebeth G.
Jensen is also an author with four novels currently on the street: Naamahssonner (2019); Children of Wisdom
(2019), Saint Michael's Sanatorium (2021) and Omphalos (2022).
Hence it is a strong, experienced and diverse teamwho releases their album debut with
SilverGlamTheGlamrock Sessions vol. 1, now issued on LP and CD (with the Christmas song “No One Waits
Till Christmas” as a bonus track).
The album is already available on the various streaming sites.
