Jens Arendal is a Danish composer, lyricist and singer, based in Copenhagen. His music can be calm, minimalistic and melancholic - but also experimental at times.
Sources of inspiration are - to mention a few- Brian Eno, John Cale and the Danish singer and composer, Martin Hall.
In his songs Jens Arendal confronts his own emotional life - without being banal or naval gazing. His lyrics revolve around love, loss, sorrow and faith. External events, historical and contemporary, also influence his lyrics. The final months in the life of John Lennon inspired the lyrics to “Harbour”. And most explicit in “Palme On A Night Train”, where the former Swedish prime minister, Olof Palme, is the central figure. Palme was killed in 1986 - and Arendal confronts the scandalous murder investigation that followed and culminated in 2020.
