Earn Your Scars

Earn Your Scars, danish hardcoreband from Kolding and Fredericia, founded in 2008, is known for a solid mix of oldschool style, fast paced hardcore, with hard groove parts and heavy breakdowns. Liveshows are energetic and partyfuled and bears the imprint of strong friendships, twenty years of experience and love for the genre and the hardcorecommunity.

Earn Your Scars does hardcore as hardcore is supposed to be, with roots in punk music and “no bullshit-attitude”. The lyrics refers to and ventilates friendships, struggles and hardships in life and personal experiences.

The music is best described as cutthroat, fast and aggressive - In other words: Earn Your Scars is hardcore “Joe Pesci-style”.

Earn Your Scars was founded in 2008 by Freese (bass), Denning(guitars), Berlin(vocals) and Mølle(drums). The foundation was based on a long friendship, love for hardcore, punk and metal music and some former music projects that eventually died out.

The idea was to form a band which played hardcore. Nothing more - nothing less. Hardcore that carried the legacy from the urban sound of the 90’s and early 2000’s, with no “rockstar-attitudes” and no bullshit. Just rough, rugged and down to Earth.

In 2009 they released the debut album "The World is Yours" through independent label "Schizophrenic inc." This was recorded in “Smart’n’hard Studios”.

In 2010 the "Play Your Cards" EP was released, also on "Schizophrenic inc." This time recorded at “Antfarm Studios”.

Late 2010 EYS decided that it was time for something new, and brought in a second lead vocal, “Jelle”.

In August 2012 EYS hit the JBO sound studio, to record their 2nd full length "DFL", (first album with two singers) which was released in the autumn of 2012.

Early 2013 Jelle decided to leave the EYS, who will continue as the original four piece band.

In 2014 EYS released the 7" "Relentless" followed by a European tour in July.

2018 saw the release of the EP “Fear is a Liar” and the ten year anniversary of EYS in March

2021 EYS released the EP “This Time is Mine” through Bitter Hearts Records. This release was produced by Simon Sonne (Orm) in Full Moon Studios, and made the way for

a new and more raw and energetic sound. Though it still was “punch-you-in-your-face- hardcore”.
